Furlong Threaded Cup
The design of the Furlong® H-A.C. Threaded cup is derived from a parallel sided screw to ensure primary fixation. The flattened contour of the thread is intended to give maximum weight transmitting contact with the minimal destruction of subchondral bone. A tap is used to minimise excessive stress created by a self tapping thread. The cup has a minimum number of threads as finite element analysis has shown that only the first and the last threads hold the cup into the host bone.
UHMWPE (polyethylene) liners are available in 28, 32 and 22.25mm inner diameters in standard and 10° hooded versions. A standard ceramic liner is also available.
Please see the Results page for many examples of the outstanding clinical success of this acetabular cup.
